Main Street is falling now the shadows only crawl through my window past times and particles of poison like a mist in the air waiting on a word that never comes it's only silence in stereo voice machine is stalling you keep calling but there's nobody there and darkness only falls before midnight fortunes rise and fall on a dime people pointing fingers like somebody else committed the crime this could be the last time this could be the last time this could be the last time dead man walking you can hear the spirits talking in echoes cold chains dragging down the hall the walls are falling in place faculties awaken still but every ounce is taken to let go cut your losses clean or be the last man to enter the race and darkness only falls before midnight fortunes rise and fall on a dime people pointing fingers like somebody else committed the crime this could be the last time this could be the last time this could be the last time and darkness only falls before midnight fortunes rise and fall on a dime people pointing fingers like somebody else committed the crime this could be the last time this could be the last time this could be the last time

Quarantine 04:31
My ear is on the wire my feet are on the floor I'm sitting by the fire I think I know you from the diner but I don't go there no more I got the windows open wide deadbolt on the door to my memory I'm tied I swear I'm not trying to hide but I don't go out no more I don't go out anymore feels like I've been cut off in the middle of a conversation I've been having with the very last of my self-control do I get it back or do I need a new elevation this quarantine has got me on the ledges of my soul my heart is on the line my love is on the shore my hope is in the brine my heart is on the line can't lose it anymore can't lose it anymore my ear is on the wire my feet are on the floor I'm sitting here by the fire I think I know you from the diner but I don't go there no more no I don't go there no more

Remember last year burn it with a blow torch I watch the day go by sitting on my front porch from my front porch I see you pass by don't really mind much cause there's a reason why we gotta stay home our hatches battened won't re-emerge until the curve is flattened so I don't go into town just out my front door we don't go anywhere unless we're shopping for essential business essential business put your mask on keep your distance not gonna leave my house till maybe late july I paint my living room and then I watch it dry I'm on my own time wearing out my drum sticks I'll trade you passwords hulu for netflix I'm making dinner I'm cooking rice and beans I'm doing tik toks don't know what that means I'm trying to settle in could be a long haul I don't think that I can take another zoom call essential business essential business you've got to build up your resistance essential business essential business put your mask on and keep your distance I try to stay in shape and do my exercise I'm saving calories goodbye to french fries goodbye to good old days goodbye to coffee shops goodbye to hit parades and knowing where the buck stops the shops are empty main street's a ghost town it feels just like the titanic going down can't watch the news for long it's getting too strange I think I'm out of touch let's do a key change essential business essential business you've got to build up your resistance keep your distance essential business essential business put your mask on and keep your distance essential business essential business (get what you need for your existence) essential business essential business put your mask on and keep your distance

A new reality on the brink I've had a lot of time to sit and think sometimes my mind is like a roller rink lots of noise and flashing lights I haven't seen you in a while but thinking bout you always makes me smile walking six feet apart and single file our days as lonely as our nights and every morning I look out my kitchen window not just for taking in the view they say a picture's worth a thousand words the only thing this one is missing now is you we had a long and mighty run yeah me myself and I we've had lots of fun we've been together through thick and thin man we've got it done some ways we couldn't ask for more but mirror mirror on the wall I don't really need to see myself at all we've been together every winter, spring, every summer and fall first chance I get I'm out the door it's true this isolation ain't been all bad but you and I we're not meant to be apart I'm sad to say until the day I see you again I'll be getting on without a special piece of my heart so come on grab your tambourine right now all we've got is this computer screen a parade's a coming we need you in this scene maybe all our friends can play cause I just miss your face we've spent way too much time already just running in place so I'm sending this one out to the whole human race I know we'll meet again someday we'll meet again someday we'll meet again someday

Just an empty room dustpan and broom nothing left to bloom but the ghost of our laughter and is it by design hours on the line time to flip the sign I'm here for the morning after and we're both getting older I'm getting tired but I'll wait here on the shoulder for you to turn around the night's getting colder I'm not getting any younger or stronger or bolder I'm just looking for a higher ground I'm looking for a higher ground looking for a higher ground meet me on the way down we'll go looking for a higher ground All the years we spent on a long descent now our backs are bent and it's like starting over and the money's all gone but life goes on in the hither and yon we'll find what's left over for us and we're both getting older I'm getting tired but I'll wait here on the shoulder for you to turn around the night's getting colder I'm not getting any younger or stronger or bolder I'm just looking for a higher ground I'm looking for a higher ground looking for a higher ground meet me on the way down we'll go looking for a higher ground
